Weekend trip crossdressed: En route to Cologne – Part II

At Frankfurt central station, heading for a fun-filled weekend trip en femme, for the third time within 12 months.

Pure bliss: sitting on a populated public train, dressed en femme, wearing a mini skirt, pressing my 5-Denier nylon-clad legs together, unable to run away, nowhere to hide, reading the article "Mini skirt at any age" in a women’s fashion magazine.

Cologne central is a very busy and very large station, but, contrary to central stations in many other German cities (such as Frankfurt), it is right smack in the center of town, next to this large Gothic cathedral called "Hohe Domkirche Sankt Petrus" ("Cathedral Church of Saint Peter") or in everyday language “Kölner Dom.”

Do you remember the reasons why I love Cologne? One of them is Kölsch. Kölsch is a top-fermented, local beer, brewed – by definition – only in Köln (Cologne), by registered and licensed Kölsch breweries. It has 4.8% alcohol and an original gravity of 11.3%, it is light and easily drinkable, and is typically served in slender 0.2 liter glasses, due to the fact that it quickly goes stale. Now, 0.2 liter (a little less than a cup) is just a gulp or two, the most three. Imagine you’d want another one: you look for a waiter, you order, your order is being relayed to the bar, it is being poured, it sits on the counter, the waiter brings it to you. You’d be dried up by then! For this reason, the “Köbes” (Jacob in local dialect) continually circles the pub or brewhouse with a tray of full Kölsch glasses and will immediately exchange your empty glass without a word needed. Your response is a smile. Isn’t that fantastic! If I sound like a man jabbering, you are right. Kölsch is very popular with women as well, though.

  1. You really capture the joy of travelling as a woman. There's nothing quite so satisfying, is there?

Interesting information about the beer. I went to Cologne about 10 years ago and saw the old city centre, the cathedral, etc. But I particularly liked the Roman museum which has some very high quality pieces.

  2. Dear Sue, Thanks for your comment. You are absolutely right. I could sit for hours on end on a train being my femme self. I have not visited the Roman museum since our school field trip in 6th grade! :-). Love, Franzi
