Black Truffle and Glenn Miller

This is part two of the account of “Franzi, the culinary crossdresser” on her mid-March 2025 day out-and-about. To go with the theme and setting of the cultural event of the evening, I opted for my glittery golden long dress with black pumps. Portrait of the evening True to her calling, Franzi's first stop of the evening was at a restaurant. It happened to be the same Italian restaurant on Opernplatz as in my recent posting "Johann Strauß and Black Truffle,“ and I started out with a refreshing „Aperol Spritz“. And Black Truffle it was again for dinner, because it was so extremely tasty the last time. When I asked the waiter for a wine recommendation to go with it, he said „Madam, the last time you had this dish, I recommended a Soave Classico to you. Did you enjoy that?“ I LOVE IT when people remember me and are obviously happy to see me again. „Re-recognition“ at its best! I would go there again, simply for that. The cultural event at “Alte Oper” Frankfurt that night was “Th...

Golden Girl

I had bought this long skirt and matching cardigan at a market in the Netherlands. After having completed it with some matching golden sneakers, I wore this outfit for the first time on this fine day in May 2024.   Portrait of the day  As I was out the door fairly early that day, my first stop was at a nice little café not far from our home, where I hung out for half an hour, before heading on to the city center. Along the river “Main” on the northern bank. The northern bank is the “Frankfurt side” vs. the “Sachsenhausen side” on the southern bank, or – in local dialect – “Hipp de bach” (above the brook) vs. “Dripp de bach” (beneath the brook). In the background you can see “Alte Brücke” (Old Bridge, the oldest one crossing the “Main”) and on the left-hand hand side the small  exhibition hall “Portikus,”  that Franzi visited in September 2023 (please see my posting “ Lieblingskleid ” from 01.06.2024). Lunch at “Kleinmarkthalle.” No explanation needed, as I had descri...

“Ku’damm 56”

This is the title of the musical that Franziska got to see that evening at “Alte Oper” Frankfurt. “Ku’damm” is the short version of Kurfürstendamm (Elector’s dam), an important street and section for trade and gastronomy in the suburb of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in the German capitol of Berlin. This street and section, erected in the 1540s, was more-or-less the center of West-Berlin, while the city of Berlin was split between 1945 and 1990. The historic and current center of Berlin lay in the eastern parts of the city, which were redeveloped only after 1990. Berlin is well worth a visit if you come to Germany and should be your preference over Frankfurt. Make no mistake, while I very much like some parts of Frankfurt, there are many aspects about Frankfurt that I loathe. If you visit Germany for the first time, I recommend to pick Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich over Frankfurt. If you want to have a (small) chance to run into Franziska, you’d have to come the Frankfurt, though. The music...

“Berlin, Berlin” OR “One hundred days out and about!”

This summer day in July 2023 ended with a visit to “Alte Oper” Frankfurt to see the musical “Berlin, Berlin.” The story covers the “Golden 20’s“ (that is the 1920’s, not the 2020’s nor your own age, for the Gen Z amongst my readers). It was the very first time that I was wearing one of my wife’s dresses out. It was a little tight across the chest – as Gimli would put it – but it was perfect for the occasion. My wife had bought it a few years ago when we were booked for a Great Gatsby party in 2020. The party took place, but with lots of space between tables and people, owing to COVID. And we had to bring our own cigars !!! I love to receive compliments! Receiving compliments on my appearance goes down like butter. It makes me weak in my knees. That evening, I received two explicit compliments, one from a young woman who said “Sie sehen sehr schön aus! (You look very pretty!) and one from a man in his 50’s, who was standing at the table next to Franzi during intermission, together with ...

Advertising Champagne!

I think that dress is very pretty, but I didn’t end up buying it. One simply can’t buy all the things that you might like and fit into. I agree, if you are challenged to fit into anything remotely pretty and feminine that may be a different story. But then the solution starts elsewhere. And then there was this inconspicuous little Prosecco bar again, the one in the corner of the women’s apparel floor of the department store. And I really liked how it was suffused with light this early afternoon. Simply perfect for a summer picture. The low, historic-looking Baroque building on the right, “Hauptwache” (main guard house)” is eponym for   the  central subway station in Frankfurt. If you ever come to Frankfurt and you take the subway from the airport into the city, get off here. “I only drink Champagne on two occasions, when I am in love and when I am not.” (Coco Chanel) This wine bar has recently made it onto Franziska’s list of top locations, as I reported in an earlier posting....

Crossdressing in the summer heat

You might remember my trip to Cologne in 2023 and my posting from 09.02.2024, in which I report about the purchase of a cute pair of shorts. On CDH, I posted the question ““Who says that you cannot wear cute shorts as a 6 feet tall crossdresser in your upper 50s?” ( LINK ), to which I received some encouraging comments.   Now, this is the day I was looking forward to, to wear them out. It was almost mid-July 2023 and it was very warm in Frankfurt. I hear from other crossdressers that they dread the summer months (or even adjourn to crossdress), as they deem them to be too warm to go out en femme. I disagree. Just wear the right things, as any CIS girl does. You do not have to wear nylons to be feminine and you don’t have to strut around in high heels, if they do not go well with your skimpy daytime summer outfit. There will be three postings to cover this day: late morning, afternoon, and evening, wherein the first two will feature this summer outfit of white satin shirt, jean shor...

Season’s Greetings

This is the very first time that I am doing a Christmas shot. It was inspired by my sisters at CDH, many of whom do the same thing every year. Another reason is that we actually do have a real Christmas tree at home this year, which is not a given. As an early Christmas gift, I bought myself a new wig. I hope you like it.   I wish all of you a wonderful Christmas season and a great time with your loved ones.

Helau and Alaaf: Carnival is coming!

Today is an important day to all who are into carnival. In Germany (and maybe elsewhere as well), 11.11 at 11.11 a.m. is the kick-off of the carnival season, the so-called "fifth season," which ends on Ash Wednesday, which - in 2024 - happens to be on Valentin's day. What a cosmic concidence !!! Carnival, as you know, is a large dress-up as somebody or something else party and doing crazy things. Hence, today is a perfect day for Franziska to resurface, even though I  doubt  that there will be many carnevalists out in Frankfurt today and I  hope  that Franziska will be anything but viewed as one of them. In any case, Franziska is getting ready for a day out and about at that very moment this post is published. I still owe you a posting on Franziska’s year-end 2022 evening as her brunette self. After an enjoyable day out and about in Frankfurt, Franziska headed home to get ready for the evening. From downtown Frankfurt that is just a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute ride ...
