Parsifal at Bayreuth

Oh no, opera again, you might think, another opera visited by Franziska! Yes, but not just any opera. The “Bayreuth Festival” is the opera event of the year in Germany and it is the place for Wagner lovers from all over the world to visit. Floor-length dresses and tuxedos are the expected norm, even though this tradition seems to fade.

This is where my wife and I went in August 2024, both dressed in new floor-length dresses and high heels. Around the hilltop opera house, there are several restaurants, bars, and food stalls. We had booked an arrangement at one of these restaurants, in which you then have an assigned table, fine buffet food, and a well-stocked bar all day long, before the performance, during the intermissions, and for a night-cap afterwards.

On that day we visited the “Bayreuth Festival,“ Wagner’s last major opera called “Parsifal” was performed. The opera lasted for six hours, including two one-hour intermissions. There happened to be a fair amount of femininity in the story and lots of pink, to the extent that even Klingsor (the bad guy in the story) – and not just the girls in his magic garden – wore a pink suit and red pumps.

A six-hour long opera at the height of summer, in an opera house that lacks an A/C, wearing a floor-length dress, is somewhat challenging. But, as the Americans say, “It ain’t over till the fat lady sings”. Incidentally, this is also the title of an article, which I published on CDH on this very event. In case you want to learn some more about Wagner, you are curious who the “fat lady” is, and you always wanted to know what you see in Disney’s logo, feel free to check it out and to enjoy the great many comments I have received from my sisters there.

This was one of my best days out en femme so far – in particular – for having been able to enjoy it together with my wife.

  1. Wow! I adore your beautiful dress. You look fabulous. And you wore pink shoes to match. Not like that bad guy Klingsor - only evil people match red with pink!

You are so lucky to have a wife who supports your femme life in such a way. Well, I say lucky, but I guess you made a wise choice (and so did she).

  2. You are so lucky to have a wife who will enjoy things with you while you are out en-femme. I don't know how many times women have rejected me because I'm a non-op TG. Luckily, I have a Girlfriend who is comfortable with me in either presentation. Hopefully, more of us will be able to go out and about in the world and not have to worry about what others are thinking, as they will be too busy with their own affairs to bother us.

    1. Dear Marian, Thanks for your comment. You are right, my wife and I are very lucky to have each other and very happy to share this life. My interest is femininity and the resulting crossdressing is not the reason why we sought each other out, though. It just happens to work out for us due to love, respect, and open-mindedness. Franzi

  3. Oh, Wagneroper.
