What can you learn from looking back at your archives? The key conclusions for me: I have since improved on putting together an outfit. I have since improved on my make-up skills. I have since improved my skills to crossdress (aka emulating a woman’s appearance and behavior). How wonderful!
All these three skills need practice. Putting together an outfit and learning how to apply make-up is what cis girls learn when they are in their early teens. And doing it daily, builds these skills quickly. A crossdresser like me, who leaves the house en femme just once a month, however, will take years (if ever) to reach the same level. On the other hand, quite a few cis girls never seem to learn the skills of putting together a proper outfit. Or as my wife puts it: the fashion industry continues to miserably fail on its purpose.
Another conclusion is: my photographic skills improved as well.
The wig I am wearing in these 2017 pictures is synthetic. I bought it 10 years back in Shanghai for around 200 RMB. If you want to stock up on your crossdressing supplies and happen to visit Shanghai, go to Guangdong Road. It is lined with beauty shops that sell all you need at 10% of the prices you are used to. Nowadays, this wig serves as my backup spare during my travels, which I simply stuff in my suitcase, in hope not to need it.
How do you like my brown buckskin boots? I discarded them at one point because they felt over the top, for my age and my style. They were a blast to wear, though.
What follows are pictures of three Franzi standard situations: shopping
dinner,
and bar, enjoying a whisky, for a change.
Hence, some things do not change. Luckly!
I love the boots, but then I was brought up in the 1970s when knee-high boots, especially in brown shades, were the fashion, so maybe I am biased. Nice skirt, too.
ReplyDeleteI also like your hair here, although I think blonde suits you better.
I agree with your wife. One of the problems is that fashion these days is too focused on casual clothes to create really nice looks without the customer making a conscious effort herself. In the past it was important to look 'right' but now looks seem to matter less so although that means less prejudice and judgment, which is a good thing, it also means everyone now wears boring, untidy clothes and there's little incentive to look good. I'm glad you have higher standards!

Dear Sue, Thanks so much for your lovely message. I was pretty busy in the second half of the week and didn't get to answer. And now, as I am writing these lines, I am sitting on the ICE train back to Frankfurt after a very enjoyable "weekend trip crossdressed - to Aachen." Hence I am fully dressed right now and and struggle to type with my long fingernails. Documentation is to follow, when we get back to 2025 in my blogging sequence. Love, Franzi
DeleteTwo more points: I am wearing blonde right now. And it is not skirt, but a dress that you see in this positing. And I still have it.
DeleteHi Franziska,
ReplyDeleteYou’ve definitely improved—and honestly, it’s really inspiring to see. The way you talk about learning what so many cis girls pick up in their teens? I feel that so much. I only get to dress once a week, and sometimes it feels like I’m way behind, still figuring out basics while others make it look effortless.
But watching your progress reminds me that it does come with time, and that it’s okay to learn at your own pace. You’re proof of that. Thank you for sharing your journey—it truly means a lot to people like me.

Hi Franzi, hello from Canada and yes I think modern dressing stds range from dowdy to sloppy with the occasional nicely dressed woman seen in public. Love you in the 3rd pic. Skirts very nice, I have many and love my look in them with my hips on. Agreed that women's clothing sourced from Asia is good quality and very inexpensive usually. Very much enjoy your stories of your adventures en femme!

Franzi, do you ever go out with girlfriends (or your wife) en femme?????
DeleteDear Brianna, Thank you for your message. I am very happy to hear that you enjoy my reports on my days out-and-about. I am just now returning from a wonderful weekend trip en femme. I have gone out with my wife a few times. One recent time one was to Bayreuth (also the title of my respective postings). I do not have any crossdressing girl-friends and my cis gig friends do not know about Franzi. Best wishes, Franzi
DeleteDear Michelle, Thanks for your great and encouraging message. Blogging takes more effort than I anticipated, hence, comments like yours are greatly appreciated. You might have read in my answer to Sue that I am on my way back home from one of my weekend trips en femme right now, as a write this. Best wishes, Franzi. PS: I am writing a new comment, as there was no "reply" option under your message. I have no clue why.
