What else can you learn from looking back at your archives? You have aged!
Ageing isn’t bad in and by itself, though. I am at peace with my age, fem or male, drag or drab. If there is one thing that crossdressing can do for you, it can make you look significantly younger. Franzi very recently had a conversation with a man at a hotel bar late in the evening and somehow the conversation lead to the question of age. When I told him that I am in my late 50s, his jaw dropped and he didn’t want to believe me. I was looking particularly cute and well made-up that evening, though, despite the fact that I had been out-and-about since 10 am.
Portrait of the day. This is the same wig I still often wear today. However, it was before I started to regularly have it professionally groomed and styled. Obviously! Incidentally, I just picked it up at my hairdresser yesterday and it looks fantastic.
And I was still a little chubby.
But some cute legs, don’t you agree?
You are goals, girl. 💜
ReplyDeleteI’m not quite at peace with all of it yet—but reading this gives me hope. I’ve started getting more comfortable with my age too, especially when I’m dressed. It’s wild how much younger I feel (and sort of look?) with just a little makeup and the right outfit.
I’m still figuring it all out, but posts like this make it easier to breathe.
Dear Michelle, Thanks for your wonderful comment. As it says in by "about me," the reason I blog is to inspire and encourage others with similar interest to follow their desires. Hearing that my blog actually does so is wonderful. Franzi
DeleteI'm beginning to envy your good looks and cute legs, Franzi! I'm not sure I'm enjoying getting older but, like Michelle says, you feel younger dressed. It's not just the makeup but also that we feel happier as women.

Dear Sue, Thank you so much for your comment. I do wonder why the perceived age difference between drab and drag is (or better "can be") so significant. Make-up and clothes are the key factors, I think. I have some really happening drab outfits as well, which make the difference between body and my non-made-up face with shiny grey hair even more salient. Love, Franzi
DeleteOn the upsides of getting older...
ReplyDelete- As your eyesight changes, you gain soft focus, so you can't see the wrinkles.
- Features soften (okay, sag 🙂) so we lose our sharp lines.
- You might have more confidence to wear what you like, rather than what's fashionable.
Dear Lynn, Thanks for your lovely comment. I'll keep that in mind. Love, Franzi

LG, Franzi
