This is part two of the account of “Franzi, the culinary crossdresser” on her mid-March 2025 day out-and-about. To go with the theme and setting of the cultural event of the evening, I opted for my glittery golden long dress with black pumps.
Portrait of the evening
True to her calling, Franzi's first stop of the evening was at a restaurant. It happened to be the same Italian restaurant on Opernplatz as in my recent posting "Johann Strauß and Black Truffle,“ and I started out with a refreshing „Aperol Spritz“. And Black Truffle it was again for dinner, because it was so extremely tasty the last time.
When I asked the waiter for a wine recommendation to go with it, he said „Madam, the last time you had this dish, I recommended a Soave Classico to you. Did you enjoy that?“ I LOVE IT when people remember me and are obviously happy to see me again. „Re-recognition“ at its best! I would go there again, simply for that.
The cultural event at “Alte Oper” Frankfurt that night was “The best of the world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra,” directed by Wil Salden. Apparently, they have been on tour for decades and regularly come to Frankfurt. As I had said before, when you only get to go out en femme on rare occasion, you cannot be picky. I am not saying that the cultural offering of the village of Frankfurt is bad. But if I were to live or go out in London or NYC, it would be different. Come to think of it, given Franzi’s second interest “travelling en femme” … 😉
I had talked about „Alte Oper“ Frankfurt, one of the top venues for concerts and musicals, many times before on this blog. It is located centrally in Frankfurt’s city at the end of „Fressgass.“ What I didn’t tell you yet, is the fact that one of the subway lines has a stop right underneath and – even better – it leads straight to „Ostend“ (East End). Its terminal station is where one of our (my, my wife’s, and Franzi‘s) favorite wine bars is located.
As the area around the wine bar is a little rough, it is prudent as a girl being out alone to hire a ride home. And that is what I did that night. Happy and tired.
As much as I'd love to have you come to New York and be in Franzi mode, DON'T! The USA is way too dangerous for people like us. Wait until the current president has left power, and a more progressive regime is in charge.
ReplyDeleteMost Americans hate the man, but we have lost control of our political system. Even the ruling political party is afraid of the mobs that follow his lead. Shades of 1930's Germany are happening in America, and many queer people are afraid for their lives.
So please wait. Places like New York will welcome you with open arms when it is safe to come here.
Dear visitor, Thanks for your comment and warning. I am observing the political and societal developments in numerous countries with great sorrows, including my home country. I practice caution when I am out en femme. Best wishes, Franzi
DeleteYes, recognition in restaurants is delightful for us. Mind you, it's good business for them, too, as you'll keep coming back.
ReplyDeleteThe Glenn Miller Orchestra should be proud to have had the elegant lady in the gold dress in the audience bringing a touch of class.

Dear Sue, Thanks for your lovely comment and compliment. Unfortunately, service was poor when I was at that restaurant a couple of weeks later in drab with my wife. Love, Franzi
DeleteI'm sorry to hear that. But, you see, Italian waiters pay lots of attention to women. If you had gone as Franzi with your wife, they would have given you both all the attention in the world! It pays to be a pretty lady lol! Sue xx
DeleteYou are just too sweet, dear Sue!
Violetta
